3. New York City, New York
If you prefer the city, have breakfast at the antique-filled Balthazar’s in SoHo. Walk through Central Park, rent a boat at the boathouse and row around the lake, then eat lunch at the lovely lakeside restaurant. Go ice-skating at wonderful Wolman’s Rink, and have coffee at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the rooftop terrace overlooking the park. Finally, see the sunset atop the iconic Empire State Building.
4. New Orleans, Louisiana
The unique architecture in New Orleans can make you feel as if you’re wandering the streets of European cities. The Creole-influenced food also adds a fun, foreign flavor. Stroll through the famous French Quarter and sample some jambalaya, fried oysters, crawfish, beignets, or shrimp po’boys.
Artistic types will enjoy seeing the numerous fountains, artwork by local painters, and exploring the bookstores and jazz clubs. Take a riverboat ride on the Mississippi River too.
