1. The Three Sisters Spring

The Three Sisters Spring can be found at the impressive Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge on the east side of Kings Bay in the town of Crystal River and has numerous vents and sand boils.  The surrounding wildlife refuge offers visitors a number of activities including bicycling, guided tours, hiking trails, and wildlife viewing.  Experts note it’s “a world-renowned winter sanctuary for manatees” too. The spring’s warm water attracts migrating West Indian manatees every year thus making it a “must-see” attraction if you’re interested in seeing them in their natural habitat.

One of the nation’s least-visited national parks, Dry Tortugas National Park is well worth visiting if you’re traveling to the Florida Keys.  This park might not be a secret to the locals or even lovers of national parks, but it’s truly remotely located.  The park is roughly 70 miles west of famous Key West.

The park spans 100 square miles and is mainly open water and seven small islands.  Here you can explore such attractions as the 19th Century Fort Jefferson, enjoy the great beaches, dive to a shipwreck, and snorkel among the coral reefs.  Indeed, this archipelago’s coral reefs are currently the least disturbed of all the Florida Keys reefs.
