Travel through the mists of time by visiting this historic, well-preserved fortress. Located on the island’s northeastern edge, this official UNESCO World Heritage site also offers visitors incredible views that span as far as the six neighboring islands. Indeed, this well-known fortress towers 800 feet above sea level. It was built in the 17 and 1800s and played a significant part in the British military’s strategy.
Surf’s up! Wax your board and head to the striking eastern shore of Barbados. For it is here that you will find one of the Caribbean’s top surfing beaches. Take a look at the unusual rock formations along this pristine, expansive white sand beach.
You can appreciate the noteworthy landscape and tackle some wild waves too (or at least kick back and watch). While there, be sure to visit St. Joseph, the local fishing village as well. You can browse the various rum shops and sample some genuine food too!
